Ten Reasons to Vote for Mary
Do you want someone who...
Ten Point Navy Affiliation
The Navy Base is the economic engine of St. Mary’s county. It is vital that the County is a good neighbor and helps the Navy accomplish its mission. It is important that County Government has a well-known, well-received ambassador to liaison with base leadership. Mary has a 26-year affiliation with the Navy. She has been on base, more often and for more reasons than any other elected official (or candidate). She shops, exercises, and worships there. She attends retirements and receptions there; she gives speeches there. She renewed her wedding vows at the Base Chapel.
Mary...

Then Mary Washington is the only choice!
In 1996, Mary ran for election to the Board of Education among a field of eight candidates. She won that election, earning 48% of the vote. She became the first chairman of the first elected Board of Education. Since then, Mary has won three successive reelections, running unopposed each time. She is the only originally elected Board of Education member still serving - a tenure of 14 years. During her tenure, the Board of Education:
